German Food

Currywurst
Currywurst is a German national dish consisting of hot pork sausage cut into slices and seasoned with curry sauce (regularly consisting of ketchup or tomato paste blended with curry) and generous amounts of curry powder, or a ready-made ketchup-based sauce seasoned with curry and other spices. The invention of currywurst is attributed to Herta Heuwer in Berlin in 1949 after she obtained ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and curry powder from British soldiers.

All Quiet on the Western Front:

All Quiet on the Western Front:

Chapter Four Summary:

Chapter four starts like this, the second company is assigned on a dangerous task to the lay-barded wire on the front. As they are driving they pass a house with a lot of geese. They agree to come back later to get them. Kat and Paul hear gunfire. Kat explains to the recruits how to distinguish which guns are firing. Kat thinks that there will be an ambush/bombardment later in the night. This chapter also talks about how soldiers transform themselves into human animals. There senses heighten in order to keep them alive. Then the soldiers carry wire and iron rods to the front. They lay the wire, and try to sleep until the trucks arrive to drive them back. Kat’s prediction that they would be bombarded is correct. Panic arises and creates chaos and run for cover. Paul talks to one of the recruits and how it is normal for a new solider to poop in his pants and tells him it is essentially normal and ok. The men hear the sounds of wounded and dying horses screaming in pain and torture. Detering is horrified because he loves horses. After the wounded men are gathered, those in charge of shooting the wounded animals do their job. Detering declares with disgust that using horses in war is the “vilest baseness.” On the drive back a swarm of bombs land around them. The men take cover. They put their gas mask on and seek shelter for protection. Paul takes a breath on the valve of the mask, hoping that the mask is airtight. The shelling has stopped. They ending of this chapter is a dilemma, where they don’t know if the should kill a soldier to ease his agony or let him be in pain.

My Work Process in FDP Party

Hello, working in FDP party was a good experience for me because I never read or heard about German parties particularly Free Democratic Party, or FDP. I meet with my group couple times on Monday and Wednesday at the library and we have been working for three hours in the couple times. I learned a lot from this topic and having a good information about German party especially FDP party. I did the history part of the FDP part and I searched about on Wikipedia. I came up with good details about the history of FDP party which is The Free Democratic Party, or FDP, was created to support liberal rights in Germany. It currently is made up of 93 members and is one of the largest groups in Bundestag. The FDP holds together the balance of power in Bundestag by promoting human rights and other things such as free markets and privatization. Without the FDP, the people of Germany wouldn’t have somebody to fight for their rights politically, economically, or socially.

My group members came up with different information about FDP party which are Theodor Heuss first chairman 1948, Heuss was first president of federal republic of Germany  from 1949-1959. Free Democratic Party is a centrist German party that advocates individualism, capitalism and social reform; it was established in December 1948 at a conference attended by delegates from liberties in American, British and French zone occupation. Formed from nine regionally organized parties BDV, DemP, DP, DVP, (Northern Wurttemberg-Baden), DVP (Southern Wurttemberg-Hohenzollern), FDP from the British zone of occupation and the free state of Bavaria and the LDP from the state of Hessen and Berlin west. Formed with the intent to influence free market economics and human rights.“Kingmaker”.

How old?

Baden-Wurttemburg is one of the youngest West-German states and was founded in 1952. Wurttemburg became occupied by two tribes from agreement of land in World War 1.

The languages spoke?

In 1918, Wurttemburg was occupied by Badeners in the west and Schwaben to the east. Parts of Baden-Wurttemburg spoke mainly Swabian or Badisch. The central and southern parts of the state speak mainly Swabian. To the north, the language Rhine Franconian is spoken. There are different dialects of these languages that are used throughout the state.
